Connect your AI to Thingy
Jamie Thingelstad’s archive — The Weekly Thing, the blog, and Another Thing — is available to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, and any MCP client. Weekly Thing subscribers sign in with their email, no passwords.
Claude (claude.ai or the apps)
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste:

Claude walks you through sign-in: enter your Weekly Thing email, type the six-digit code from the email (your Mac or iPhone will offer it automatically), and approve access.

Then /mcp inside Claude Code to authenticate.
ChatGPT
Custom MCP connectors require Developer mode (Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise, on the web app): Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → enable Developer mode. Then add a connector and paste:

ChatGPT walks through the same email + six-digit-code sign-in.
Any other MCP client
The endpoint speaks MCP streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 discovery — point your client at the URL above and it finds the sign-in flow on its own.
Agents in your browser (WebMCP, beta)
While you are signed in on the Thingy chat page, the page also registers its archive tools with your browser’s model context (the emerging WebMCP standard). An agent operating in your browser — Gemini in Chrome, or a desktop MCP client connected through a WebMCP bridge extension — can then search the archive directly using your session, no connector setup at all. The tools appear when you sign in and vanish when you sign out; they are read-only and share nothing beyond what the chat itself can see.

- Topic history — trace how an idea, person, or product evolved across twenty-five years, with evidence for every match.
- Search photos — nearly 14,000 indexed images from the blog and newsletter.
- Find quotes, check claims, follow links — verify against the archive, explore what Jamie referenced, surface hidden gems.
- Reading, playing & watching — the newsletter’s Currently entries, queryable by year.
- Reach the live web — fetch a page a post links to, even one published minutes ago.
Fair use
Every reader gets a daily pool of tool calls (double for Supporting Members), separate from the Thingy chat budget. The archive is Jamie’s public writing; personal data stays out by construction.
